Environmental Issues
http://twgeog.geo.ntnu.edu.tw/english/environment/environment_problems.htm
A major environmental issue in Taiwan would be when a highway was built along the mountains in Taiwan. The Landscape along the mountains h changed due to all of the traveling along the highway. Many people took advantage of the mountains resources making an environmental issue. Water pollution, soil erosion, landslides, forest fires, sedimentation of reservoirs, and flooding at the middle and lower altitudes were all caused due to the highways that were built on the mountains. Some areas of the mountain are threatened with destruction and some wildlife species are threatened with extinction.
The hills of Taiwan have been overloaded with agricultural, residential, industrial and recreational uses. The ecological system in midstream and downstream catchment areas has been seriously damaged due to water pollution, air pollution, soil pollution and solid waste disposal.
